"Monster" by The.Bloody White.Wolf.xoxo
Emmett & OC, Angst, Romance, MA/NC-17
Summary: I am a monster—born to protect, yet living only to kill. My humanity is gone, all until one harmless glance changes everything. Just one glance has bound two sworn enemies together. But is it fate or a joke? Can one who has lost herself be found again by another? Or is this another dark, dirty, trick of my own mind? A forbidden passion, heat, and intense anger—this is no fairytale.

The.Bloody White.Wolf.xoxo's "Monster" is a gripping tale of action, angst, romance, and fluff that teaches a common lesson: sometimes the biggest obstacle in our lives is ourselves.

My first encounter with "Monster" was late in the night when I caught the attention of it, and I started the first chapter in a half-awake stage. I was interested, and something kept me reading. Before I knew it, I was on chapter 20. I was awake by then, as the fantastic attention to detail kept me reading. I saw that the first four chapters of the second part were an exposition and thought I would stop. But, just my luck: I got to the 25th chapter and the happenings had me hooked. Hours passed as I read all the way through to the 50th, and I was awed by this fic.

This isn't your common fic, and I believe that because of that, this undiscovered gem has yet to be discovered. "Monster" is the tale of a Quileute woman by the name of Jordan Uley. She has struggled through her childhood filled with hardships, which eventually build into a stunning fury that's bottled up into her until she explodes and ends up losing herself to the 'monster' within herself.

The dark shadows wrap around my figure as the drive to protect swells in side of me. I am frozen—a spot of red gone blue—until fever pierces my veins and starts to spread through my body, swallowing me whole. The pressure clamps down on my shoulders again, coming as an aftershock to the sudden bite of ice. This time, it's preparing to shake me, to rattle my core and grind out every trace of him inside of me until I'm nothing but bone and blood—nothing but a killer trapped inside an abnormally tough skeleton. There's only seconds left. — Chapter 44
I won't spoil too much, but eventually the short little Uley girl isn't so tiny anymore and she ends up exploding as the source of the anger is released. This "monster" that she has become envelops her, and Jordan slowly loses herself. Fast-forward two years after the big depature and we see Jordan grown up (and quite the badass at that), though she's much more animal than human. Returning with the promise to take care of this 'Cullen' coven and be on her way.

It's then that we're thrown in a twist. We see Jordan's monster on the edges, but once the forbidden romance starts, things just burst right into a fiery tale that keeps you right on the edge of your seat. Jordan begins to struggle against the monster inside her in an attempt to find herself with the help of this forbidden partner who, despite her efforts to get rid of him, is intent on helping this angry woman out.

As the fic progresses, your heart jumps, drops to your stomach, goes a million miles an hour, and even beats loudly with the thundering heat of the anger. There are also elements of humor, fluff, hurt/comfort, family, and friendship tied in—it's a taste of every flavor tied into one. This is a captivating tale that really is a new look beyond warm, ripped bodies, dazzling smiles, and sparkling skin. At the same time, I find this fic to be more of a metaphor despite all the Twilight elements—I find this fic to be portraying how life can throw people down, mess them up, and toss them into the deep end, but somehow and somewhere, there's always the lifeboat floating in the waves if you only just keep braving each wave that rises up and reach out for your chance.

If there's anyone else out there up for a brand new adventure in the world of Twilight, I highly recommend they take a look into "Monster," but do come prepared because, well, "this is no fairytale." :-)
