Kinetic
by S.K. Anthony
The Luminaries  #1
Publication: September 20th, 2013
Genre: New Adult Urban Fantasy

Being strong is one thing. Being an unlimited source of power is quite another.

Genetically altered by the Organization, Annie Fox takes down criminals CIA-style with her luminary strength. With nothing to mend but her broken heart, she is relentlessly pursued by her boss Derek Lake. Just when Annie is about to give him a chance, her ex-husband unexpectedly comes out of hiding.

A wanted man, Nick Logan is a cold-hearted murderer who is considered enemy number one, and orders are clear: kill on contact. He is more powerful than ever and threatens the lives of those she holds most dear. His plan? Get his hands on Annie and use her Kinetic energy to destroy them all. When Annie finds herself with an opportunity to end him, she pauses, horrified by the scars covering the face she once loved. A split second that will cost her everything …

** Kinetic is a stand-alone novel. All books in series are part of the same world with the characters intertwined. **

Welcome, Katherine! The blog tour for your debut novel, Kinetic, kicks off today. Are you jumping in joy or biting your nails? :)
Totally jumping in joy while biting my nails!

Please describe Kinetic in one sentence for those too busy to read the full summary.
Annie Fox takes down criminals using her luminary strength ... that is, until she learns that her ex-husband wants to harness those same powers to kill everyone she loves.

What inspired the idea behind the book?
I remember having the word Luminary coming to my mind and thinking, "this sounds cool," who would a Luminary be? Then I also liked the idea of having a secret organization with super powers and a heroine who was a bad ass but broken inside, and Kinetic was born ;)

What was the most challenging part of writing it?
Finding flattering wigs after I pulled my hair out from all the revisions.

How does it feel to have your debut out there in the hands of readers?
I feel delirious and tipsy ... but that might be the wine O_o. Apart from that, I’m excited and terrified :D

Besides writing, what other artistic talents do you have?
Sleeping. Wait, no? Okay, I’ve been known to act, belly dance, and every so often, I even draw a little. I’ve lost practice with all of them, sadly, but I can. My best artistic talent by far, though, is that I can make cute babies.

Are you currently writing another book?
Yes, I have the second book in The Luminaries series in progress, along with a totally different spy NA book.

How many installments do you plan on being in The Luminaries series?
At least three are planned for now, but they are all standalone, so I can go on for as long as readers might be interested in “the Luminaries” world.

What advice would you give aspiring authors?
If this is your dream, don’t give up and don’t let fear stop you. I wasted years because of fear. Just keep on writing, and if you are stuck, the writing community is huge and amazing. You can even contact me if you are desperate;)

Government interrogation of Lisa Kinkaid

State your name for the record.
Well, this is annoying. My name is Lisa Kinkaid. Can we skip the pleasantries and move on to this interrogation?
How old are you?
Not your business. Fine, okay? But take off my blindfold first. I promise not to hypnotize you or any your useless staff ... That’s much better. I’m twenty-six years old.
Are you aware that not one single co-worker of yours had anything nice to say about you?
Well, I’m not surprised. They all hate me.
Why is that
Because they are all idiots and I make their lives a living hell.
Have you stolen any of their personal items?
Yes, I’ve repossessed some of their things. Some I kept, some I sold, and some I destroyed simply because they weren’t pretty enough for me.
Did you recently put some of our policemen in danger?
Haha … maybe? Oh, come on! I was under attack, and they were around. It’s their job to protect civilians.
But you are not a civilian. You are a Luminary, and your job is to protect everyone else.
What do you want? I’d just finish doing my nails that day and had an important meeting to get to.
Is this the meeting you had with the terrorist who promised you some secret formulas to enhance your abilities?
Yes.
Were you infiltrating them for the Org, or was this for personal gain?
Personal.
So you're admitting it?
Yes, but it doesn’t matter. You are going to forget this in a minute.
You said you wouldn’t hypnotize us.
You regular humans are so stupid. Obviously I lied.

  3. I usually do not enter these contests, and at one time I did, and have manged to only win one. I am a Reviewer for new and seasoned authors. Several of my reviews have appeared on the published copy I reviewed. Like I said, I usually do not enter contests, however, when I come across a talented author with a great imagination and creative writing, I feel honored to enter and help spread the word about his or her work. I have a lot of respect for the hard work, long hours, and tears an author will put into a book in order to allow the reader escape the every day drudgery and hardships life can present. The reader for a short time, can transport him or her into another world, shutting out everything around them. Thank you for the contest, I wish everyone good luck, but most of all I want others to realize the quality of work I see in your profession and passion.
