Vouched! "Shelter" by @twilight_moirae

Shelter by Moirae
Bella & Edward, Drama/Romance, M, Complete
Summary: Bella never made it to Forks, never met Edward, never fell in love. As a student at Emerson College, she is passionate, smart, and desperately lonely. Until someone catches the scent of his singer on the air . . .

It's Deviant Days, so you know what that means. All you canon lovers out there, get ready for a super sexy Edward. Shelter starts off with a raw taste of Edward during his pre-Bella years. He's broken, alone, and tormented by his gift and his own demons. Meanwhile, Bella isn't the same naive girl from Forks High. Instead, she's an older, more-mature version of her teenage self.

Shelter's storyline takes you along a fast-paced version of the original but with many unexpected twists and turns along the way. Moirae's writing is beautiful and captivating. Seriously, check out Shelter and keep an eye on this girl for more great stuff to come.

June One Shot Staff Picks

Every month, we rec under-appreciated one shots we simply adore. So get comfy, try something new by checking out these short reads, and be sure to leave them some love.

"The Bigger Light" by@grrlinterrupted
Jacob & Bella, Hurt/Comfort, Romance, MA/NC-17
Summary: An all-human, New Moon role reversal: Jacob has been dumped by the woman with whom he was obsessed. Can Bella convince him life is still worth living? And what will happen when his first love returns? Written for the Remember When This Was Fun contest.
** Rec'd to us by theswandive

Arianna-janae: Now, I don't make a habit of reading Jacob and Bella stories, but this summary grabbed my attention. I wanted to read this story to get a glimpse of a different Jacob, and that's exactly what I got. Jacob's dealing with an enormous sense of loss, coupled with the realization of how difficult his life has really been. Before this story, I never really considered how the loss of his mother and the dependency of his father might take a toll on the young man. Couple that with the rejection of a first love, and we see Jacob crumble. Will Bella be there to pick up the pieces? Will Jacob be able to let her in and accept her support? Or will Jacob end up back in the arms of the same woman who scorned him? The Bigger Light packs a big punch for such a short story.

"Ripple" by AydenMorgen
Laurent & Irina, Mystery/Romance, M
Summary: They both paid the price for words unspoken and decisions made. Now ash and flame await her, but is it truly too late to speak the truth she carries in silence? Will he even hear her if she does? Vampfic. My Fandom Fights the Floods piece. Rated M.

Arianna-janae: The first thing that attracted me to this one shot was the pairing. I wanted to see what the author would do with a relationship that was just hinted at by SM. The opening scene is a chilling one, as well as a confusing one. Irina stands opposite her sisters, watching them struggle and resist the arms that restrain them. Everything seems surreal, and it's difficult to make sense of dream and reality. And then Laurent is there. At first he's just a thought, a guilty pleasure, but he has a message for Irina. She struggles with the need for him and the will power to push him away. He left her, after all. It's a wound that still festers, but seems anesthetized when he's near. She needs him on a primal level, but her heart both longs and hides from the truth. If he loved her, why did he leave? He keeps repeating "I never left," but his words only confuse her. She's felt so alone in his absence. He asks her to feel, and she does. She feels the lick of a flame over her flesh. The searing burn of the fire enveloping her. She screams his name with the last breath of air in her body. It is over, yet it has only just begun. Edward's question is answered. The soul lives on, even for the damned.

Deviant Guest Inquisition: Savageward from @vampiremama's "Beautiful Savage" (with @credoroza)

Before you read the interview with Savageward, The LUV'NV wants to thank Credoroza for her wonderful support. Along with sending in guest reviews, she has promoted all of our events on her blog, Fandom Fanatic, and included us in her Affiliate Spotlight segment.

When Credoroza stated in the post her wish for having thought of our Inquisition feature, RaindropSoup cornered her with sweet words, not so subtle cajoling, and a bribe of her own Inquis banner to do a character interview for us. Being the fabulous and ever-helpful woman she is, Credoroza agreed—with enthusiasm.

We cannot adequately express our appreciation for the fandom, for the women who have shared their amazing stories and characters, those who have taken the time for others and kept sites going. Much LUV to Credoroza, for she is one of them. A nuzzle and a savage backside grope for readingmama for her time and endearing Savageward. Please be sure to leave both of them some love, whether here, on their blogs, or by reading and reviewing "Beautiful Savage." You can learn more about the story in Credoroza's review, here.

And while you're at it, if you're not a work (or at least don't have screen peckers, I mean, peekers), check out the manip of Savageward.
NSFW and a good deal of unf. *mutters* Rather lengthy unf.

Now, you're really curious about him, aren't you? Well, as with all Inquisitions, beware. There can be spoilers. But no one heeds warnings anyway, so without further ado, here he is ... SAVAGEWARD!

Deviant Guest Review by @credoroza: "Beautiful Savage" by @Vampiremama

"Beautiful Savage" by readingmama (@vampiremama)
Edward & Bella, Romance/Drama, All Human, MA/NC-17, Complete
Summary: After getting lost in the woods on a camping trip, Bella finds a man who is living a different life. Can two such different worlds mesh when communication is nearly impossible?

After getting lost in the woods on a camping trip, Bella finds a man who is living a different life. Can two such different worlds mesh when communication is nearly impossible?

His eyes jumped out at her first. Intense and dark, so much that at first glance, one would probably just assume his eyes were brown, but they were in fact green. His eyelashes were long and curled in a way that any woman would be jealous of. His face was tanned and covered in a thick beard that was almost a burgundy color. His hair, although dirty, was a color that Bella had never seen before. Not quite red and not quite golden, it couldn't be called anything but bronze. Then her eyes shifted down his neck, and she found herself gasping again. He was naked. He was naked and he was pressing his face to hers, rubbing his dusty cheek against hers and then down the back of her neck, locking them together at the crook.

When I stumbled across this story, I was enthralled, yes, enthralled. There have been some "wild man" Edward stories posted in the past, but none were able to hold my attention like "Beautiful Savage."

Vampiremama's writing is so visual. I can picture myself in her story, in the woods, with Edward. And that is what I love about any story, seeing myself in the story. The mark of a gifted writer.

The story starts out with a not so wilting violet Bella, she is feisty and head strong. She knows what she wants, she just isn't sure how to go about it. She is also a little lost in life. She has a boyfriend, Ben, her first love and she has friends, but they don't really seem like friends to me.

Deviant Guest Review by @credoroza: "Take What You Want" by @Purelyamuse

"Take What You Want" by purelyamuse
Edward & Bella, Humor/Angst, All Human, MA/NC-17, WIP
Summary: Based on January 2012 witfit prompts. Though Bella's known Edward for years, they've just started hanging out. His crass, smelly boy self is not appealing, but his looks and charm are. How will she deal with her feelings for the gross, flirty boy?

Dirtyflirtward has crept in to my heart. Pretty much the same way Masen did, slowly and permanently.

Purelyamuse has written two very different and completely diverse characters that grab at your heart and will not let go. And like "Masen Days," "Take What You Want" is a story that will touch every emotion and hold you captive. That's not to say there wasn't hesitation on my part in approaching the story because it is a witfit. I dislike witfit's more than drabbles. I have absolutely no patience for them. But every once in a while, I am surprised.

I loved "Masen Days." I still re-read it from time to time. I decided to trust purelyamuse's story telling ability again. I am so glad I did, witfit or not.

"Take What You Want" is an amazingly funny and romantic story. This is an Edward like no other. Dirtyflirtward. I mean who writes an Edward like that? Edward is utterly perfect. Purelyamuse definitely had other ideas. Her Edward is crass, obnoxious, flirty, dirty, and smelly. Literally! And you will love him instantly.

Deviant Days — WIP Staff Picks

Every quarter, we have a chance to deviate from our mission of only featuring the little known, non-E/B fics.
We may or may not take advantage of it, and each staff member only gets one pick.

Strictly Non-canon Lovers — we're asking you to step out of your preference box this month and check out
the E/B or well-known non-E/B WIPs that have compelled a couple of us to deviate.

(See, E/B lovers … We do love Edward!)

"Penal Code" by BellaFlan
Edward & Bella, Humor/Romance, AH, MA/NC-17
Summary: Undercover Cop Edward Cullen wants some excitement on his beat. Bella, whom he mistakenly thinks is a hooker, desperately needs to snap out of her funk. How deep is Edward willing to go undercover to get the girl?

Arianna-Janae: I love pretty much everything BellaFlan writes, and Penal Code is no different. The summary alone had me hooked. Good cop, Edward Cullen, is undercover, attempting to bring in a hooker. After all, if she looks like a hooker, walks like a hooker, and has some strange obsession with your "pudding," she must be a hooker, right? Follow these two through their awkward hook-ups, misleading innuendos, and major fuck-ups. Never underestimate a girl and her love for a man's pudding. *Chuckle*

"The Biology Project" by solostintwilight
Edward & Bella, Romance/Hurt/Comfort, AH, MA/NC-17
Summary: Edward's a sex addict resisting treatment, Bella's a girl who just wants to get laid already. What happens when they get paired up for a Biology Project? Bio Lab could get interesting...

Wayward Girl: This is a drabble-ish fic brought to us by the author who wrote In Your World. I love her (somewhat) short chapters and quick updates. Solostintwilight has made these characters her own, I especially enjoy her Jasper and Charlie. Every chapter is a joy to read and leaves me itching for the next update!

April One Shot Staff Picks

Every month, we rec under-appreciated one shots we simply adore. So get comfy, try something new by checking out these short reads, and be sure to leave them some love.

"Jake and Ness Finally Do it" by silveraure
Renesmee & Jacob, Humor, MA/NC-17
Summary: Five years after Breaking Dawn... Emmett and Rosalie give Jacob and Nessie access to their "love shack" for their first night together... will it be as awkward as we all hope? Sit back and enjoy this ridiculous and irreverent glimpse into the future!

Arianna-Janae: This is the first story I have read with Jacob as the leading man. I know, it's not something I'm proud of. After reading "Wild at Heart" by silveraure and falling head over heals in love with it, I decided to give Jake a chance and read "Jake and Ness Finally Do it." First, you have to understand that this is not a serious story and was never intended as one. So, if you're looking for a greater meaning and a higher purpose, you'll need to look somewhere else. This story is full of side-splitting awkwardness, and chock-full of some of the greatest one-liners I've read in a long time. All I have to say is "sparkly vampire spluge." And ... go!

"Willing" by justaskalice
Jasper & Alice, Horror, T
Summary: She was the predator, he the prey. "I know exactly what I'm talking about. I've seen the future, Jasper Whitlock. It ends in one of two ways. I die, or I don't." Jasper/Alice AU

RaindropSoup: I'm a sucker for bittersweet fics, and "Willing" definitely hits the spot. Beautifully written and stunning in every way possible, the story left me frozen and speechless before I finally muttered an "Oh, my God." Twice. The prose and tone are fantastic. The emotion and the scene are compelling, and though Pre-Twilight, the story and the thought behind it is original. To top it all off, the spot-on characterizations and wonderful use of "You've kept me waiting" and "I'm sorry, ma'am" sated my current hunger for a rare fic, bloody heavy in canon. "Willing" is not only a must-read but also a one shot you'll never forget. Check it out and leave justaskalice some much-deserved love. I wouldn't be surprised if you add it to your favorites list, as well.

"The NonImprint" by TwilightMommyof4girls
Sam & Bella, Romance/Drama, M
Summary: Bella and Sam form a relationship after Edward leaves. He doesn't imprint on her. Is their love enough? How does it play out?

Wayward Girl: "The NonImprint" gives you a snapshot into the lives of Sam and Bella. After Sam finds Bella in the forest, the two form a relationship and eventually become engaged. Bella soon finds out she is pregnant and couldn't be happier with her life. Unfortunately, Sam sees Emily and imprints. Heartbroken, Bella flees to Port Angeles to attend college and raise her baby alone. Little does she know that Sam is just as distraught as her. Will he be able to fight the imprint or will Sam have no choice but to abandon his budding family for a magical union?

This one-shot covers a lot of ground in a short amount of time. It's fast-paced and for once I was rooting against an imprint! Poor Bella is so set on sacrificing herself for Sam's happiness, too bad she didn't realize that he didn't want that. It was nice to read a different take on imprinting:
I loved Sam with my whole heart. I wasn't his imprint, that fact would never change. But what I was, was even better. I was chosen.
While an imprint can be permanent, being chosen by the one you love is much more satisfying, at least for Bella. If you're a fan of Sam/Bella fics, definitely check out this one-shot.
