Sarah Jennings wants nothing more than a quiet life—alone. Raised by an eccentric mother, their life on the road only taught her how to run away from hard times. When she finds herself in an abusive relationship, this lesson serves her well.

Eight years later, she’s settled back in her hometown and less fearful than she’s ever been in her life. She’s a first grade teacher, and with few friends and less family around, she has what she wants, a quiet life under the radar where she can be free of her past and live quietly. Until one night and one brutal act of violence changes everything.

Injured and afraid, Sarah wants to run again, but Mark Summors refuses to let her go.

Mark was born and raised in Santa Rosa. He married his high school sweetheart and never questioned his life, until he found his wife with another man. Now divorced, he wants something more. He's passionate about his job, he wants to protect people, and he devotes his life to it. This time he's protecting more than just another client, he's protecting his future; at least, Sarah Jennings will be his future, once he convinces her she loves him.

When Sarah agrees to let Mark help, she doesn’t anticipate just how important of a role he’ll play in her future or how the violence in her past will come back to threaten them both.(

Full of thrilling action and sweet romance, Dangerous Embrace  is a Romantic Thriller and emotional roller coaster.

Sarah Jennings has learned to protect herself emotionally and physically after being in an abusive relationship. She has changed her name, has taken self-defense and continues to be fit, owns a gun and knows how to use it. Although she is hiding in plain sight and distances herself from romantic relationships while being cautious with the non-romantic kind, she is somewhat content. She is safe, the only thing she can ask for.

One night of a random act of violence changes everything. Her security and life are in jeopardy, and her past might just catch up her. When she literally runs into Mark Summors, the stranger who has been there for her every moment since the attack and is the owner of a private security firm, she finds herself opening her heart again, only to find both their lives at risk and more at stake.

I was immediately drawn into the story from the first page. The scenes were so well written I imagined myself there as the characters and as a bystander. While there were a few moments I was frustrated with Sarah's stubbornness, I adored her will and independence. It was refreshing. She oozed femininity and strength. I could feel her breaking down, only to come out stronger as she picked up the pieces.

Her and Mark's relationship was so sweet and lovely. The romance perfectly balanced with deep emotion, tasteful sex, dire circumstances, and everyday home life. I do wish Mark didn't give in to Sarah so easily when it came to her safety, but other than that, I appreciated how he listened and how attentive he was without being overbearing. He's naturally protective, and seeing him learn to let go was wonderful.

Sometimes the inner emotional struggle felt repetitive and never-ending, but the story quickly picked back up again, and the turn of events left me turning the page as fast a possible.

With a great cast of characters and a compelling plot with twist and turns along emotional highs and lows, Dangerous Embrace  is both heart-thumping and heart-warming.

  1. Thanks, Raina, for the lovely review. If only the world had many more Marks, and many less Johns. :)
