Advocated! A Place Where No One Lives and sequel by Habetrot

"A Place Where No One Lives" by Habetrot
Jessica & Rosalie, Fantasy/Parody, AU Pre-Twilight, T, Complete
Summary: Maureen Stanley has just moved to Forks, and is thankful for it...when she doesn't want to throw a knitting needle at her cousin's head. Meet the Mary Sue who knows exactly how contrived everything is-and refuses to buy into the angst.

Maybe I'm cynical, but at much as I love The Twilight Saga, I also love to pick it apart. Making the occasional jab at a character flaw, *cough* Edward *cough*, or pointing out holes in a story line is great entertainment. After all, in the world of fan fiction, many writers change the character's attributes and personalities (a more-ballsy Bella, or a less-jackassy Edward) whether they realize it or not.

Habetrot is an expection. In A Place Where No One Lives, the main character, Maureen Stanley, routinely points out everyones' flaws in a blunt, matter-of fact fashion. So let this be your warning, if you love Bella and Edward and can't stand to see them get ripped apart, (figuratively of course) this is not the story for you.

I happened upon A Place Where No One Lives as I was searching for a particular genre; a parody. The summary reeled me in immediately. I'm a total sucker for a good original character, and Maureen promised not to disappoint.

Maureen Stanley has just moved to Forks, and is thankful for it. Feeling compassion for human beings can be very painful—especially when human beings go out of their way to damage each other through horrific acts of murder, rape and theft on a small scale…or extortion, slavery and genocide on a grand scale. Being somewhat unhuman herself, Maureen doesn't feel obligated to live in a world like that. So she's moved to Forks, Washington…a place where the only suffering people feel is the kind they inflict on themselves, which they blow out of proportion in order to pretend that their pain is real. It's the perfect place to focus on her personal passions, and let the world go past her. The only problem is actually living, second by second, with people who make their lives into a pointless drama.

Advocated! "Venom, Fangs, and Fairies" by @Krystal214

Jasper & Bella, Twilight/True Blood Crossover, M, WIP
Summary: The supernatural world is in danger when Alice and Edward conspire with the Volturi. Soul-mates Bella and Jasper, who is actually a unique hybrid bt/wn both types of vamps, bring their family and friends to help Eric & the TB crew before its too late. Set at the start of TB season 2 and a loose time-line for Twi as Bella is still human. Funny banter, sexy moments, & fights galore.

Photobucket

Crossovers are often over-looked in the world of fan fiction, which is why I purposely seek them out. Venom, Fangs, and Fairies is a virtually untapped source of yummy goodness, overflowing with great dialogue and a truly original plot line.

After all, what's better than vampires? Why, more vampires, of course! This story has an interesting way of merging two vastly different worlds. Those of the supernatural persuasion—whether they be shifter, were, or vamp—are all aware of the existence of both types of vampires. These two species are referred to as Venom Vampires and Fanged Vampires. The Venom Vampires are from the Twilight world. What sets them apart from their fanged counterparts is the hardened texture of their skin, the fact that they can walk in the sun without burning (though they do have a disco ball effect), and that they are venomous. The Fanged Vampires are from the Southern Vampires Mysteries world and , of course, have fangs, cannot be exposed to sunlight (unless they want to become bar b que), and are not venomous. Out of these two different species, there is only one in existence who is a mixture of both.

Jasper Whitlock's reputation proceeds him. His empathetic ability, coupled with his unique (and mysterious) parentage has made him one of the most feared creatures among the supernatural community. I'm keeping my lips zipped on just how he earned this reputation. You'll have to read the story to find out.

Vouched! "Shelter" by @twilight_moirae

Shelter by Moirae
Bella & Edward, Drama/Romance, M, Complete
Summary: Bella never made it to Forks, never met Edward, never fell in love. As a student at Emerson College, she is passionate, smart, and desperately lonely. Until someone catches the scent of his singer on the air . . .

It's Deviant Days, so you know what that means. All you canon lovers out there, get ready for a super sexy Edward. Shelter starts off with a raw taste of Edward during his pre-Bella years. He's broken, alone, and tormented by his gift and his own demons. Meanwhile, Bella isn't the same naive girl from Forks High. Instead, she's an older, more-mature version of her teenage self.

Shelter's storyline takes you along a fast-paced version of the original but with many unexpected twists and turns along the way. Moirae's writing is beautiful and captivating. Seriously, check out Shelter and keep an eye on this girl for more great stuff to come.

June One Shot Staff Picks

Every month, we rec under-appreciated one shots we simply adore. So get comfy, try something new by checking out these short reads, and be sure to leave them some love.

"The Bigger Light" by@grrlinterrupted
Jacob & Bella, Hurt/Comfort, Romance, MA/NC-17
Summary: An all-human, New Moon role reversal: Jacob has been dumped by the woman with whom he was obsessed. Can Bella convince him life is still worth living? And what will happen when his first love returns? Written for the Remember When This Was Fun contest.
** Rec'd to us by theswandive

Arianna-janae: Now, I don't make a habit of reading Jacob and Bella stories, but this summary grabbed my attention. I wanted to read this story to get a glimpse of a different Jacob, and that's exactly what I got. Jacob's dealing with an enormous sense of loss, coupled with the realization of how difficult his life has really been. Before this story, I never really considered how the loss of his mother and the dependency of his father might take a toll on the young man. Couple that with the rejection of a first love, and we see Jacob crumble. Will Bella be there to pick up the pieces? Will Jacob be able to let her in and accept her support? Or will Jacob end up back in the arms of the same woman who scorned him? The Bigger Light packs a big punch for such a short story.

"Ripple" by AydenMorgen
Laurent & Irina, Mystery/Romance, M
Summary: They both paid the price for words unspoken and decisions made. Now ash and flame await her, but is it truly too late to speak the truth she carries in silence? Will he even hear her if she does? Vampfic. My Fandom Fights the Floods piece. Rated M.

Arianna-janae: The first thing that attracted me to this one shot was the pairing. I wanted to see what the author would do with a relationship that was just hinted at by SM. The opening scene is a chilling one, as well as a confusing one. Irina stands opposite her sisters, watching them struggle and resist the arms that restrain them. Everything seems surreal, and it's difficult to make sense of dream and reality. And then Laurent is there. At first he's just a thought, a guilty pleasure, but he has a message for Irina. She struggles with the need for him and the will power to push him away. He left her, after all. It's a wound that still festers, but seems anesthetized when he's near. She needs him on a primal level, but her heart both longs and hides from the truth. If he loved her, why did he leave? He keeps repeating "I never left," but his words only confuse her. She's felt so alone in his absence. He asks her to feel, and she does. She feels the lick of a flame over her flesh. The searing burn of the fire enveloping her. She screams his name with the last breath of air in her body. It is over, yet it has only just begun. Edward's question is answered. The soul lives on, even for the damned.

Check out the above one shots and please let the authors know what you think!

One shots recs are tweeted various Fridays for six months.

AdVocated! "Ruins at Dusk" by Kyilliki

"Ruins at Dusk" by Kyilliki
Caius & Didyme, Romance/Supernatural, Volturi, M, WIP
Summary: Of burning pages, Caius and Didyme, and other things that cannot last.

So often we seek out a story with the goal to make us laugh, to make us love, to leave us in suspense, or even to make is cry. However, with "Ruins at Dusk," I am not only entertained, but am left inspired. I find that not many stories are able to have that effect on me.

I am just in awe of this story, in every way and shape possible. Kyilliki is a brilliant author whose command of the written word is unrivaled. Her Caius is multifaceted in his stoicism. Calculating, yet afraid of showing love, as to him it translates to weakness. Didyme is a frail, deceptively fragile thing with a devastating power. Aro is a man who seeks control, and will exploit even his own flesh and blood to obtain it. And Marcus, dear Marcus, is gentle and kind, but his human-like nature separates him from his own kind.

I found this story when I was searching for a Caius fic without Bella as the leading lady. When I saw the pairing, Caius and Didyme, my mind immediately swirled with the possibilities. A mental image of the forlorn Marcus came to mind, grief-stricken over his lover's infidelity. The thought of a love triangle fueling Caius's spite also took shape as a possibility. What if Caius truly loved Didyme, knowing that she belonged to another? I dove right into "Ruins at Dusk" to find my answers, and immediately recognized the writing style. Kyilliki submitted "The Edge of Crimson," a Marcus/Didyme pairing, for our first annual Softer Side of Villainy Contest. Honestly, I felt like a dumbass for not checking out her other stories sooner. Though today I'm adVocating "Ruins at Dusk," I highly recommend you check out everything this woman has ever written. I'm fairly certain she walked out of the womb with the ability to weave a story already mastered.

Deviant Days — Completed Fic Staff Picks

Sorry! We forgot to publish this post on the 21st, kicking off the Completes portion of Deviant Days.
Here's the completed Deviant we thought you just have to check out.

"Bitemarks & Bloodstains" by forthelongestday
Jasper & Bella, Drama/Romance, Dogma, AU-Twilight, MA/NC-17
Summary: Two days in Phoenix is all it takes to make Jasper realize that mere curiosity cannot explain his obsession with the human who has so thoroughly caught Edward's attention. AU

Arianna-Janae: I'm a little embarrassed that this is the first Jasper & Bella story that I've read from start to finish. It's just a testament to forthelongestday and the amazing depth of her characters.

This story starts out as a canon pairing from Jasper's point of view. From the beginning, Jasper shows a strange interest in Bella which he casts off as little more than a curiosity. Things change when he becomes involved. After sitting idly by while Edward dictates Bella's life course without her input, Jasper makes Bella a promise. It's a promise that will make him go against his family and against his supposed mate. It's a promise that will likely be the death of him.

It turns out that's the case, because the Jasper we know dies and is reborn into a different person.

We only have a few more deviant days left, with a couple more deviant guest posts coming up.
Share your favorite completed E/B or well-known non-E/B by giving a deviant guest review!
We'll try to get it up ASAP for this month's Deviant Days, but if not, until the next time … July.

Vouched! Eric Yorkie, The Van Helsing of Forks by @duskwatcher

Rosalie & Eric, Humor/Supernatural, AU, M, Complete
Summary: When Eric discovers the Cullens are vampires, he makes it his mission to 'get the goods' on them with hilarious results. Good thing the Cullens have a sense of humor! Twilight. Canon.

This fic was just the funny pick-me-up I needed. There are so few stories out there about the humans in the Twilight books, and even less about our geeky friend, Eric. This story takes place during Twilight, where we get to see Eric's unique take on things. As it turns out, Eric Yorkie happens to know a thing or two about vampires. After all, he's seen his fair share of horror movies.

It's an icy day in Forks when Tyler's van comes careening through the parking lot, heading straight toward Bella. Eric just happens to be taking pictures for the school paper, and continues to snap away during the whole incident. When he studies a blurry picture a little bit closer, he realizes that the blur bares a remarkable likeness to one Edward Cullen.

Join Eric as he uncovers the truth about the Cullens. Will he tell anyone? Will Edward's ability uncover the secret Eric carries? Will Eric be able to warn Bella about the Cullens' dark secret? Well, you'll just have to read Eric Yorkie, The Van Helsing of Forks to find out.

Deviant Days — WIP Staff Picks

Every quarter, we have a chance to deviate from our mission of only featuring the little known, non-E/B fics.
We may or may not take advantage of it, and each staff member only gets one pick.

Strictly Non-canon Lovers — we're asking you to step out of your preference box this month and check out
the E/B or well-known non-E/B WIPs that have compelled a couple of us to deviate.

(See, E/B lovers … We do love Edward!)

"Penal Code" by BellaFlan
Edward & Bella, Humor/Romance, AH, MA/NC-17
Summary: Undercover Cop Edward Cullen wants some excitement on his beat. Bella, whom he mistakenly thinks is a hooker, desperately needs to snap out of her funk. How deep is Edward willing to go undercover to get the girl?

Arianna-Janae: I love pretty much everything BellaFlan writes, and Penal Code is no different. The summary alone had me hooked. Good cop, Edward Cullen, is undercover, attempting to bring in a hooker. After all, if she looks like a hooker, walks like a hooker, and has some strange obsession with your "pudding," she must be a hooker, right? Follow these two through their awkward hook-ups, misleading innuendos, and major fuck-ups. Never underestimate a girl and her love for a man's pudding. *Chuckle*

"The Biology Project" by solostintwilight
Edward & Bella, Romance/Hurt/Comfort, AH, MA/NC-17
Summary: Edward's a sex addict resisting treatment, Bella's a girl who just wants to get laid already. What happens when they get paired up for a Biology Project? Bio Lab could get interesting...

Wayward Girl: This is a drabble-ish fic brought to us by the author who wrote In Your World. I love her (somewhat) short chapters and quick updates. Solostintwilight has made these characters her own, I especially enjoy her Jasper and Charlie. Every chapter is a joy to read and leaves me itching for the next update!

April One Shot Staff Picks

Every month, we rec under-appreciated one shots we simply adore. So get comfy, try something new by checking out these short reads, and be sure to leave them some love.

"Jake and Ness Finally Do it" by silveraure
Renesmee & Jacob, Humor, MA/NC-17
Summary: Five years after Breaking Dawn... Emmett and Rosalie give Jacob and Nessie access to their "love shack" for their first night together... will it be as awkward as we all hope? Sit back and enjoy this ridiculous and irreverent glimpse into the future!

Arianna-Janae: This is the first story I have read with Jacob as the leading man. I know, it's not something I'm proud of. After reading "Wild at Heart" by silveraure and falling head over heals in love with it, I decided to give Jake a chance and read "Jake and Ness Finally Do it." First, you have to understand that this is not a serious story and was never intended as one. So, if you're looking for a greater meaning and a higher purpose, you'll need to look somewhere else. This story is full of side-splitting awkwardness, and chock-full of some of the greatest one-liners I've read in a long time. All I have to say is "sparkly vampire spluge." And ... go!

"Willing" by justaskalice
Jasper & Alice, Horror, T
Summary: She was the predator, he the prey. "I know exactly what I'm talking about. I've seen the future, Jasper Whitlock. It ends in one of two ways. I die, or I don't." Jasper/Alice AU

RaindropSoup: I'm a sucker for bittersweet fics, and "Willing" definitely hits the spot. Beautifully written and stunning in every way possible, the story left me frozen and speechless before I finally muttered an "Oh, my God." Twice. The prose and tone are fantastic. The emotion and the scene are compelling, and though Pre-Twilight, the story and the thought behind it is original. To top it all off, the spot-on characterizations and wonderful use of "You've kept me waiting" and "I'm sorry, ma'am" sated my current hunger for a rare fic, bloody heavy in canon. "Willing" is not only a must-read but also a one shot you'll never forget. Check it out and leave justaskalice some much-deserved love. I wouldn't be surprised if you add it to your favorites list, as well.

"The NonImprint" by TwilightMommyof4girls
Sam & Bella, Romance/Drama, M
Summary: Bella and Sam form a relationship after Edward leaves. He doesn't imprint on her. Is their love enough? How does it play out?

Wayward Girl: "The NonImprint" gives you a snapshot into the lives of Sam and Bella. After Sam finds Bella in the forest, the two form a relationship and eventually become engaged. Bella soon finds out she is pregnant and couldn't be happier with her life. Unfortunately, Sam sees Emily and imprints. Heartbroken, Bella flees to Port Angeles to attend college and raise her baby alone. Little does she know that Sam is just as distraught as her. Will he be able to fight the imprint or will Sam have no choice but to abandon his budding family for a magical union?

This one-shot covers a lot of ground in a short amount of time. It's fast-paced and for once I was rooting against an imprint! Poor Bella is so set on sacrificing herself for Sam's happiness, too bad she didn't realize that he didn't want that. It was nice to read a different take on imprinting:
I loved Sam with my whole heart. I wasn't his imprint, that fact would never change. But what I was, was even better. I was chosen.
While an imprint can be permanent, being chosen by the one you love is much more satisfying, at least for Bella. If you're a fan of Sam/Bella fics, definitely check out this one-shot.

Have you read one of fics mentioned above?
Tell us your thoughts in a comment below and give the fandom even more reasons to check out
these one shots!

One shots recs are tweeted various Fridays for six months.

"Wild at Heart" by @sleuthinpumps

Photobucket
"Wild at Heart" by silveraure
James & Victoria, Drama/Western, AU, MA/NC-17, WIP
Summary: Cold, deadly, and haunted, James Wilder is a frontiersman in the Old American West who becomes the unwilling protector of his boss' frightened and abused daughter Victoria Childress. Pre-Twilight, Dark Themes, Vampires

I can't tell you how many hours I spent searching for this De Vill's AdVocate. Last weekend, I sat down at my computer and decided to search for a story with Victoria as one of the main characters. I wanted to find a well-written story with an interesting story line. Victoria, as a villain of the Twilight books, is often written off as purely evil. I wanted to find a story that gave her character more dynamic. I wanted to know the human Victoria in order to understand the vampire Victoria. After bookmarking several stories, and reading more than a few, I finally started reading Wild at Heart. I knew, two sentences in, that this was my winner. I was immediately hooked.

Have you ever really considered the differences between James and Victoria's vampiric gifts? James is the tracker—a vampire with the ability to hunt people. Victoria, on the other hand, has a knack for escape—for staying hidden. One is the very antithesis of the other.

Wild at Heart opens with an introduction to the Hunter. A man crouches, waiting for the perfect moment to pull the trigger. His hands are shaking, and his heart hammers in his chest, but not from fear. No, this man feels the pure thrill of the hunt. Adrenaline runs through his veins in anticipation of the kill. He paralyzes his victim, preferring to deliver the final death blow himself. James slices through the doe's neck and slings her body over his shoulder, relishing the sensation of the animal's warm blood washing down his back.

Vouched! "The Newborn" by @BellaDCullen

"The Newborn" by belladonnacullen
Edward & Tanya, Pre-Twilight, T, WIP
Summary: Edward's life from 1918 - 2006. See him as a newborn, a rebellious killer, as his family grows, and as he turns into the vampire we know and love him as today. P.S. Tanya's always been in love with him. E/TPOV

I happen to be a big fan of Edward/Tanya stories. Unfortunately, there aren't many of them out there. When I stumbled upon this one, I have to admit I squealed like a school girl.

Now, I feel like I have to give fair warning here and tell you this story is currently on hiatus. In fact, I really went back and forth with myself on whether or not to post it for that very reason. Maybe I'm secretly hoping that if enough people read and review it, begging belladonnacullen to continue it, that she might give in.

Like my fellow readers and writers out there, I love that SM left so many possibilities and unanswered questions for us to explore. Belladonnacullen does just that in this pre-twilight story. She takes the hint of a relationship between Edward and Tanya and runs with it.

Our first glimpse of Edward shows us a skittish newborn who's red eyes flicker at every movement. Still, even in the chaos of this new life, Tanya is drawn to him. She tries to maintain her distance—both physically and in her thoughts—but she can't help but be drawn to him.

Will the idealistic Edward be able to accept Tanya? Will he be able to see past her nighttime escapades to find the intelligent and insightful woman beneath?

Take a journey with The Newborn and see Esme's change, and the interesting dynamic it creates for the new coven. Feel Edward's resentment when he discovers Carlisle's reason for changing Rosalie. Join Edward in his fall from grace as he becomes the red-eyed vigilante. See Emmett's struggle to handle the blood and the jealousy. Then, kick me in the ass when you get to the last chapter and realize that's it.

Vouched! "Cowboys & Indians" by Minisinoo

"Cowboys & Indians" by Minisinoo
Jasper & Leah, Drama/Humor, AU-BD, T, Complete
Summary: Lessons on the road in a journey through time. Existentialism, a Texas pow-wow, a '67 Mustang, a bar brawl, Pocahontas, and Jack Kerouac. Sometimes, family is chosen, even if they're not who we expect. Jasper, Leah & Seth, Edward

This story is truly a journey in every sense of the word. As the reader, you join Jasper and Leah on a physical, spiritual, and emotional journey of discovery. Honestly, the story was nothing like I expected. That being said, "Cowboys & Indians" was so much more than I dreamed of.

Here we have two strong characters—Jasper and Leah. Both have a strong sense of purpose, yet both tend to struggle with their place in the world. Leah assumes Jasper is the eternal cowboy, unable to move forward in a world that has changed so much since he was turned. Leah lets her own fear of judgement dictate her gut reactions to others, often jumping to the wrong conclusion. She soon finds that she was wrong about Jasper Cullen. Not only does his gift make him more yielding than his stone facade may suggest, he's also a sponge when it comes to knowledge—open to receive Leah Clearwater's "education."

Minisinoo weaves a fascinating tale so unlike the linear journey most stories take. Her lessons of friendship, culture, family, and self-awareness are broad and relatable. This is not a story of how a vampire and a wolf fall in love. Instead, it is a story of how a vampire and a wolf find a middle ground—an inherent understanding.

I have to agree with Arianna-Janae—"Cowboys & Indians" is nothing like I expected it to be. It's so much more. More than a romance and your average, typical fic.

Pre-E/B wedding, all the characters are steadily canon. The relationships: Jasper and Esme's, Edward and Seth's, and yes, even Jasper and Leah's—especially theirs—are believable and deep. I am so left in awe of the dynamics, I fall in love with the fact that the main characters are not a romantic couple. I don't wish for otherwise by the end.

The dialogue is above par, Leah's natural and having the unrelenting bite, while Jasper's refreshingly accurate and sans Darlin'. The discussions are intriguing, the topics moving. From well-known quotes to the unfamiliar book references, the writing is smart and fabulous, with the theme of differences and appreciating them clear.

"Cowboys & Indians" is real, fun, and doesn't only focus on self-discovery but also on "centering the periphery," as Jasper calls it. The plot is a journey, but with an ending that made me warm and fuzzy all over. This story ... has left me inspired. Love comes in many forms. Does a fic have to have romance to be great?

Absolutely not. Minisinoo's amazing fic proves it.

"The Cassolette" by @MaBarberElla

Photobucket

I decided to bite the bullet and break free of yet another one of my preconceived notions. After the encouragement of more than one fellow reader, I took the plunge and searched out a Carlisle & Bella story.

In order to do this, I had to get past the good doctor exterior and overlook the three centuries of age difference and life experiences between these two. In order to get over the "robbing the cradle" thoughts, I tried to wrap myself around the idea of how these two characters could relate to each other.

Well, rather than dipping my toe into a story that would ease me into this pairing, I dove in head first with the smutty goodness of The Cassolette. MaBarberElla has managed to keep Carlisle's outward demeanor intact while adding a whole other level of pervy-goodness brewing beneath the surface.

Outwardly, everything appears as it should. Carlisle is a skilled doctor, dedicated to his job and his family. He comes home to his loving wife, Esme, and is the eternal patriarch to his immortal family. Always kind and ever dignified, Carlisle hides behind a well-polished and controlled facade. Who knew it would take one human girl to bring his walls crashing down?

"And Yet Dusk Fades" by AndYetDuskFades

"And Yet Dusk Fades" by AndYetDuskFades
Demetri & Leah, Fantasy/Romance, AU-BD, T, WIP
Summary: If she could paint the world, she would color it black and white. Then everything would be simple.

After searching for what seemed like a century, I squealed with excitement when I found And Yet Dusk Fades. We couldn't have just any old story for the grand opening of our new and improved website and this, my friends, isn't just any old story.

I have to admit that I went out of my nice, little comfort zone to read this fic. I'm Team Vamp (notice I didn't say Team Edward) and reading a story where the main character is a wolf meant stepping pretty far out of my box. Needless to say, I'm glad I did. AndYetDuskFades aptly captures the mental turmoil of Leah Clearwater expounding on what Stephanie Meyer created and taking her character to a whole new level. Couple the amazing character depth with a purely original storyline and you get one kick-ass story.

"Belonging" by forthelongestday

I'm on a roll with the Peter fics lately. Here's another one that I simply had to share. It's called Belonging by forthelongestday.
This story is in Charlotte's point of view (no Bella here). forthelongestday breathes life into a character I have never before seen written with this depth.

It begins as Charlotte opens her eyes to her new life as a vampire. The first person her new gaze falls upon is the very man who took her life. She isn't welcomed into this new existence by a loving family - ready and willing to patiently guide her as she begins her life as a vampire. No, she's thrust into the life of a soldier where there's no such thing as a learning curve. No positive reinforcement. No second chances. Stripped of her clothes, her humanity, and her individuality she must adapt to this new life - this hell. She quickly discovers that only person she can depend on in this new world she's been forced into is herself.

The same man who has promised her that he won't harm her, has killed two of her comrades without provocation. Everywhere she goes, she feels his watchful eyes on her - senses his presence and feels the absence of it. Her only relationship, if it could be called that, is with a man she knows she should hate - Peter.

"Terms of Engagement" by SnarkySimaril

Alright, admittedly, this fic barely squeaks in under the requirements for adVocation, but it's too awesome not to share. And it's awesomeness, coupled with the fact that the review count is still below 500, qualifies it as under-appreciated.

If you're a fan of Snarky-Bella, Peter-yumminess, and Edward-bashing, then this is the fic for you. It's a whole lot of fun, wrapped up in one neat little package.

Terms of Engagement is a joint venture of Snarkymuch and Simaril, under the collaboration account of SnarkySimaril. These two ladies together equal pure fucking genius.

The story begins following much the same sequence as Stephanie Meyer's Twilight. Bella arrives at Fork's High and Edward is instantly entranced by the enigma that is Bella Swan. This is where the detour begins.
First of all, chapter one is entirely from Jasper's point of view, which puts a humorous spin on things. Jasper seems to revel in Edward's failed attempts to gain Bella's attention. Even Edward's 'heroic' life-saving stunt doesn't seem to sway Bella's opinion of the awkward vampire. Soon the Cullens begin to worry about Edward as it seems he has reached a new level of depravity where Bella is concerned. Jasper receives a phone call from Peter and after filling Peter in on the debauchery that's afoot, he can't resist a trip to Forks to witness it for himself.

"Twilight of My Redemption" by Imraven

Since I first discovered Fan Fiction, I have been in search of a worth-while vampire on vampire crossover. Kinky. *smirks* I started out with True Blood/Twilight, and everything that I found was pretty predictable - Sookie was always paired with Eric. So, I gave up on that avenue and started to search out Vampire Diaries/Twilight fan fics. That's when I found Twilight of My Redemption.

I need to clarify that when I refer to The Vampire Diaries, I'm talking about the TV series on the CW and not the books. After the success of Twilight, I was expecting several knock-offs. At first glance The Vampire Diaries didn't seem like any more than that. However, being the female that I am, I couldn't help but notice the ever-yummy Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley *fans self* cast as the vampire brothers. I thought to myself, "this is definitely worth watching...for the plot line...yeah...the plot line". I turned out to be pleasantly surprised.

Let me try to sum up The Vampire Diaries as briefly as possible. The Vampire Diaries is set in Mystic Falls, Virginia. Stefan Salvatore is the new kid in school that is drawn to an Elena Gilbert. As it turns out, Elena is a dead-ringer for Stephan's old flame Katherine Pierce. The kicker is that Katherine lived in Mystic Falls in 1864. She was the vampire who changed Stefan and his older brother Damon. Katherine relished the attention she received from the Salvatore brothers. More than that she enjoyed putting them at odds with one another as they fought for her affection. This interesting love triangle is repeated in present-day, but instead with Elena cast as the lead female.

Elena is in love with Stefan but still cares for the ruthless and dangerous Damon. Once Damon realizes that Katherine really is a ruthless bitch, he finds himself also harboring feelings for Elena. Elena seems to see past Damon's hardened exterior to find the good buried deep inside of him. Unfortunately for all the lovebirds, Elena is Katherine's doppelganger. And as everyone knows, in order to kill one, you must kill the other. And lets just say that Katherine isn't very well liked by...well...anyone. Elena has entrusted Elijah, one of the "original" vampires, to protect her friends and family at the expense of her own life. Throw in some werewolves and witches and you have yourself the story line for The Vampire Diaries.

Twilight of My Redemption picks up during New Moon at Bella's infamous birthday party and quickly jumps to Edward's botched goodbye in the woods. As Bella lays broken on the forest floor, a pair of immortal eyes look on. A plan is hatched in her devilish mind.
