Seventeen-year-old Ismae escapes from the brutality of an arranged marriage into the sanctuary of the convent of St. Mortain, where the sisters still serve the gods of old. Here she learns that the god of Death Himself has blessed her with dangerous gifts—and a violent destiny. If she chooses to stay at the convent, she will be trained as an assassin and serve as a handmaiden to Death. To claim her new life, she must destroy the lives of others.
Ismae’s most important assignment takes her straight into the high court of Brittany—where she finds herself woefully under prepared—not only for the deadly games of intrigue and treason, but for the impossible choices she must make. For how can she deliver Death’s vengeance upon a target who, against her will, has stolen her heart?

A very interesting read. Gives a insight of sorts to the convents of the middle ages that most girls were sent to in order to either prepare for marriage or to become a nun. This convent however, prepares their initiates for a different life, a life dedicated to the God of Death. Enter our heroine, who escapes to the convent to avoid an arranged marriage that nearly resulted in her death. Born marked by the God of Death, Ismae has the ability to see those that are marked for Death, which is interesting because this one girl has the power to choose life or death for a person she has never met and probably doesn't care about. Her partner later on in the story gets under her skin and makes her doubt what her true purpose is and who she is really working for. The intrigue is awesome and the details of locations and people give the reader the ability to feel like they are right there in the novel with the characters. The tension between our female lead and her leading man is awesome and makes you want to scream at her to just let go and love him. All in all, this is an awesome book and I highly recommend it!

  1. I almost quit reading after the first chapter or two...so glad I didn't. I guess I just couldn't figure out the god of death. But after reading a while it came together. I usually read historical romances but honestly the cover of the book really intrigued me. The book was very exciting with lots of twists and turns. I loved the characters too. I cannot wait to read the next book.

  2. GRAVE MERCY was a powerful, pulse racing, hands shaking, thrilling adventure, that was more then I could of predicted. With it's powerful political intrigue, and strongly fierce characters, GRAVE MERCY is one to keep you up late, demanding just one more chapter. I would HIGHLY recommend GRAVE MERCY to anyone!!
