clpsuperstar Pursued by CareMarie

Author Name: clpsuperstar
Stories: Paris Stars Are Blind, I Love College, Send Me An Angel, Million Dollar Baby One shots: 21 (one shot for the winner of Fandom Gives Back auction) and Club Erotica (a collaboration with my girl Cozmedic, who is a genius with words) and I’m about to post a new one shot, which is looking like it may become a full chapter story, Monkey Business.

CareMarie: Tell us a little bit about yourself:
Clpsuperstar: Well, let’s see…I’m a 36-year-old mother of three, and a wife to one. Hard to believe with my pervy little mind that I’m monogamous, right? I’m from the capitol of Kentucky, Frankfort. The capitol is all we have here. There is absolutely shit else to do, which is probably the reason I got into this gig in the first place. Some things some of my readers may not know about me:

I did a stint in the US Navy…that’s right, I’m a tough broad. And, now you see where my brashness and filthy language comes from. I truly do cuss like a sailor. I’m a licensed private investigator…no, ladies, I will not follow your hubbies for you. I have no ties to the “Cheaters” show. Sowwy…*bats eye lashes innocently*

Let’s see, what else? Oh yeah…I’ve written an original manuscript that I hope to one day have published. Keep your fingers crossed. It’s a supernatural romance, but I swear, no vamps.

CareMarie: How did you get introduced into Fan Fiction?
Clpsuperstar: Okay, here’s how the story goes…My sister was reading the Twilight Saga and just kept going on and on about them. I mean, she was obsessed! She told me I just had to read them, but when she told me it was about vampires…I was like, I really don’t have time to read anything, and a book about vampires is just not my cup of tea. She left the first book with me and I promised that if I got time, I would check it out. Well, one day I was bored and picked it up, and holy pink fuzzy bunny slippers! I couldn’t put it down. I was at her doorstep before the crack of dawn to get the next book in the series. When I had read them all, I was actually depressed! I think I may have even cried.

So, I was on the internet one day, looking for anything Twilight related, but on this particular evening, I wanted to see if the movie had been nominated for any awards. What the search engine came up with was a link to a fanfiction site. I clicked it and it was like Twilight heroine being shot through my veins.

The first fic I read was “Making Love Out of Nothing At All” by ashel-13, and as I kept reading other fics, I kept thinking…Hmm, I wish someone would do a fic about this or that. My niece is Team Jacob *gag*, and she was writing a fic about him, so I asked her to write one about the gang going to Paris for a summer. She came over and we sat down together and I was giving her “suggestions”, but I kept making her change things and eventually just took over…in the very first chapter. I wanted that shit done my way, so it just made sense for me to do it myself. I was surprised when I read back over it and thought, “I can do this?”…I know I sound very full of myself right now, but that’s what it was like; I was really shocked.

I posted my first chapter for Paris Stars Are Blind on March 22, 2009. I was nervous as hell because, although I welcome constructive criticism, I was terrified someone would say something mean. I was pleasantly surprised that people really seemed to like it and I think just about all the readers that started with me there, have stayed with me through “I Love College”, “Send Me An Angel”, and now “Million Dollar Baby”, as well. I was checking the review boards and traffic stats constantly. Until recently, I could respond to every review over there, but it’s just not possible for me to do that anymore. I read each and every single review, but I just can’t respond to them all. That really kind of makes me sad, because I feel like if a person is taking the time to read and then review, they deserve a response from me to let them know how much I really appreciate the hell out of that shit.

CareMarie: Is there a story behind your pen name?
Clpsuperstar: Yeah, there is. I used to work in the registration department at a hospital, and during my training, my trainer nicknamed me “The Superstar” because I was apparently a fast learner. It’s just stuck with me ever since. Not an exciting story, but that’s how it came about. So, you see…I’m not really full of myself. LOL!

CareMarie: What story (ies) are you reading right now?
Clpsuperstar: I really wish I had time to read…I love anything written by WinndSinger, Cozmedic, EdwardsBloodType or 107yearoldvirgin. You should definitely check them out if you ever get the chance. THE RED LINE, by Winndsinger is my absolute favorite to date.

CareMarie: Do you have a favorite character and if so, why that character?
Clpsuperstar: Canon character…Edward, duh. I love to be inside his head. He’s such a complex creature, even when you put him in non-canon roles. I prefer him at least slightly cocky. My other favorite is my own original character, Gabe. I heart Gay Gabe! That prissy bitch can get away with saying just about anything he wants. A lot of readers ask me if he’s a real person…God, I wish. I think he was created because I wanted a gay BFF for my very own, but alas…I have none. So, I just made one up. In my head, he’s a cross between Jack, from Will and Grace, and LaFayett, from TrueBlood.

--Stories--

CareMarie: First off, tell us a little bit about your stories:
Clpsuperstar: Paris Stars Are Blind is a story about the characters, fresh out of high school, going to Paris to find inspiration for their Juliard submission pieces in hopes of being accepted by the prestigious school. It’s canon coupling, funny, angsty at times, and sexy. Reading back over that, I see so many things I would have changed. It was my first fic, and there are a lot of grammatical issues, and one REALLY BIG oopsie. However, I think it proves how much my writing has grown, and I hope my readers can actually sit back and laugh at my mistakes WITH me.

I Love College is about the gang in…well, college. Edward is a cocky frat boy with more money than he knows what to do with, and Bella is the gal that has been nominated to bring him to his knees. Bella rooms with Alice, Rosalie and Gabe, while Edward lives in the frat house next door with Emmett, Jasper, James and Mike, among others.

Million Dollar Baby is about a virgin, Bella, who sells herself to the highest bidder at a sex slave auction in an attempt to make enough money to get a much needed surgery for her dying mother, Renee. Edward is the extremely successful businessman who purchases her.

CareMarie: Why did you pick the pairings that you did?
Clpsuperstar: I like canon. Plain and simple. I just can’t see Edward screwing someone else, and I’d be the first person to call Bella a cheating whore if she did. Not that fics that use non-canon pairings are bad, they’re just not my thing.

CareMarie: Do you have a favorite point of view to write in?
Clpsuperstar: I love to write in Edward’s point of view. The man is just too sexy for his own good.

CareMarie: Was there a part in the Twilight Saga that inspired you?
Clpsuperstar: Yes, but I’m not sure if I’m answering this the way you want. All those fade to black moments where Steph fucking ripped us off…that inspired me to take what she refused to give. Thus, the smut I wanted them to have, needed them to have, was born in my pervy mind…and spilled onto the pages of my stories…I hope.

CareMarie: How did you decide to post your stories?
Clpsuperstar: I just bit the bullet and did. The thing is, once I started…I found that I loved it so much that I couldn’t stop. I swear to you, after every fic, I tell myself I’m going to stop…but writing seriously is like a drug to me. It makes me…happy.

CareMarie: Have you ever changed your story outline based off of a review? If so, what was the review and what did you change?
Clpsuperstar: No, I can honestly say that I haven’t. I’ve come close to it, and it was based on what several readers said they’d like to see in the story, but my girl, Cozmedic, talked me down from it. An author writes what she sees. Maybe everyone won’t like it, but it is what it is…and at least I’ve stayed true to the story. Truthfully, I don’t do outlines. I sit down, the characters appear like watching a movie in my head, and I do the best I can to bring it to life on paper. I have added little stuff from requests along the way, but not changed the story’s direction.

CareMarie: Do any of your characters in your story remind you of yourself?
Clpsuperstar: I think there’s a little of me in all of them. I’m snarky like Bella, domineering like Edward, sassy like Gabe, protective like Rosalie, super sleuth like Alice, a goof ball like Emmett and sometimes, I’m the voice of reason like Jasper.

I love to hear from readers!
