EmmaleeWrites05 Pursued by CareMarie

Author Name: EmmaleeWrites05
Stories: Royale, Engine 17

CareMare: Tell us a little bit about yourself.EmmaleeWrites05: I'm a 20-something-year-old who likes chocolate, coffee, reading/writing and playing my xbox. I like all things Jackson Rathbone, Zachery Quinto, Harry Potter and Star Trek. Tattoos are addicting as well as sour gummy worms, Apples to Apples, zombie movies and reading fanfiction. I'm recently divorced, single and....maybe loving it? The decision is still out on that one...

CareMare: How did you get introduced into Fan Fiction?
EmmaleeWrites05: I've only been involved in fanficition for nearly 2 years now. I first heard about it after seeing Twilight in theaters and then looking at the messaging boards on IMDB everyone kept mentioning this story there that I just had to read, so I clicked the link and gave it a shot. I was hooked before I got to the end of the first page. When I finished that story, I went fic diving for more and as they say, the rest is history.

CareMare: Do you remember the first story you read?
EmmaleeWrites05: Yep, the one mentioned above, Wide Awake. I think nearly everyone in this fandom has either heard of it or read it or even gotten started on it.

CareMare: Is there a story behind your pen name?
EmmaleeWrites05: Yes there is. My name is not Emmalee contrary to popular belief. I have a very common name, and I hate it. I've always loved the name Emmalee so when I started this, and preferring to remain anonymous, I picked EmmaleeWrites05 as my alter ego.

CareMare: What stories are you reading right now?
EmmaleeWrites05: Oh god, too many to all name. I fandom jump like no other, so not only am I actively reading Twilight ff, but Harry Potter as well. I also dabble in a bit of Star Trek, Heroes, Vampire Diaries, Hunger Games and Pride & Prejudice. Right now, I am utterly hooked on Let's Get Physical by Lalina, The Cullen Campaign by belladonna1472 and Bella Swan: Zombie Killer by Kristen Nicole. Those are my "drop everything to read" stories.

CareMare: Do you have a favorite character and if so, why that character?
EmmaleeWrites05: Um, good question...I'm kinda a fanfic pairing h00r, I like anyone and everyone and all of them together, but if I had to pick just one (from each series I'm seriously addicted to) it would be Jasper from Twilight and Snape from Harry Potter. Jasper because I have a thing for guys who are in tune with their emotional side. There is such a great story hiding behind him, I can't wait to find out what it could have been. And Snape. Man I loved him before he was proven to be all good in the last HP book. He's dark and mysterious and my perfect man (seriously, I've proven that point, because I am a dork like that haha. But I am not going to share it because I have to keep some of my pride intact)

--Stories--

CareMare: First off, tell us a little bit about your stories.
EmmaleeWrites05: Royale was unplanned. I had no outline just a basic idea of what I wanted to do and where I wanted to end up. The characters kinda just wrote themselves, mainly because I used actual people I know for the basis of some of the characters. Edward and Jasper are like my ex-husbands dual personalities. He could be sweet and caring like Jasper but most of the time he was and ** like Edward. Now Engine 17 is even more personal. I started writing this story before my divorce happened and finished it right before my divorce became final. It's important to know that because it's loosely based on my "love" with my ex-husband. He is a firefighter; I went through the firefighting program to be one and all of our friends were firefighters too. I just tweaked our stories, embellished a little bit and made into a fanfic. Though, that story was incredibly hard to finish writing once the divorce started.

CareMare: Why did you pick the pairings that you did?
EmmaleeWrites05: Royale - I LOVE Jasper/Bella stories. There is a lack of GOOD Jasper/Bella stories out there. So I thought I'd just jumped head first into that pairing and see where I would go. As for Engine 17 - I decided canon would be the easiest way to go with that one given the subject matter and how close the story line was to me.

CareMare: Do you have a favorite point of view to write in?
EmmaleeWrites05: I can not write in like third person. I've tried and failed. For the most part I like writing from a girls perspective because, well, I am a girl. I don't know how boys actually think, I can only guess. I have and do write in guys perspective, but I don't always like it as much as writing from like Bella's point of view. It's just easier to write what you know.

CareMare: Was there a part in the Twilight Saga that inspired you
EmmaleeWrites05: Um, actually I'd say no. Although I read the books, watched the movies and went all gaga for it in the beginning, I'm not too terribly obsessed with the series like I once was. I read and write Twilight fanfiction primarily because of the good writers/stories I have seen out there, the friends I have made and the fact that the characters are so pliable. You can put the Twilight characters in any pairing, any medium, storyline, genre, vampire or human, nearly anything and it works because I don't see much depth to them, they're too easy to manipulate to me...God, I don't think my readers want to hear me say that...haha

CareMare: How did you decide to post your stories?
EmmaleeWrites05: I just did. I was scared and nervous and didn't think anyone would read them, but they have. It shocked the hell out of me, but it's an awesome feeling to get a review. I don't need to have those stories that get thousands upon thousands of reviews to feel great about my story. It takes just one review saying they liked my story to make me feel good. And that's how I keep on deciding to post stories.

CareMare: Have you ever changed your story outline based off of a review?
EmmaleeWrites05: If so, what was the review and what did you change? That's one of things I have strived to avoid most. I have gotten some rotten reviews. A lot of Edward lovers hated my Edward from Royale. They told me I had to change him that it wasn't right to portray him like that. I didn't listen. He is what he is and he is staying that way.

CareMare: Do any of your characters in your story remind you of yourself?
EmmaleeWrites05: Bella in all my stories are a little bit of me. Different parts of me I should say. Engine 17 Bella is my firefighting side, my strength and determination, my will to succeed. But Bella from Royale is my more vulnerable side, my motherly side, my "hope that love cures all" side.
